About Me

I would recommend Simon Gore to any one that is interested in Alexander. Give it some time and you will be amazed at the effect it will have.
- Josey, artist and equestrian.

For more than thirty years I worked as a professional musician. During that time I had the great privilege of travelling all over the world and working with lots of amazing people. I also taught and lectured at many schools and music colleges.

But by the time I reached my mid-thirties I was coming up against physical limitations. Recurring back problems were costing me time and money, and driving any great distance became difficult and sometimes impossible.

A friend persuaded me to try a course of Alexander Technique lessons. My first experience was such a surprise, so different from anything I had been led to expect, that curiosity kept me going back as much as the benefits I was beginning to notice.

I attended my first ITM summer workshop a few months later. While there I experienced some quite profound changes, both in myself and in the other participants, and I knew then that I wanted to be involved in Alexander's work. One month later I was able to join the ITM teacher training programme and I qualified in the Spring of 2003.

Today I help coordinate ITM training courses. Besides this and my private practice, I have also taught at Bath Spa University and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. In 2012, I took on an additional 4 years of study so that I could start to train teachers of Alexander's work.

In case you're wondering, driving long distances is no longer a problem and I can honestly say that I am in much better shape in my fifties than I was in my thirties.
